Words Become Pictures was founded and is led by animator, motion graphics artist, UX designer, and computer programmer Jon Rustad. Jon started his career working for TELE-TV (a joint venture of PacBell, Nynex, and Bell Atlantic) as a rapid prototyper and UI designer of their interactive television offering.

After that, he worked in Los Angeles, CA as an independent contractor, designing interactive games for the popular television show the Seinfeld Show. His also won an Emmy award for his team’s work on the two National Geographic documentaries, Predators at War and In search of the Ultimate Survivor.

Additional work include the clients Sony, Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Animal Planet, National Geographic, Acura, Honda, Avon, French’s Mustard, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Crystal Sky Entertainment, Transamerica Retirement Services and Little Caesars, among others.

Notably, Jon worked with acclaimed illustrator Geoff McFetridge to animate a scene for the Sony Pictures theatrical release Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

In 2008, Jon was given a Telly Award for his work as an editor and animator of the Little Caesars’ “Hot-N-Ready Central” television spot.

Jon also had the privilege of working under the direction of visual effects supervisor Jacques Stroweis, a BAFTA Award winner with an Academy Award nomination for Achievement in Best Visual Effects.

Jon Rustad also owns a music publishing company called Famous Bakery Music, which has placed his music in various movies and television shows. Also as a musician he won a LA Music Award for “Punk Single of the Year” and takes pride in scoring original music for his various clients.

With a refined creative sensibility and a rich knowledge of emerging technologies, Jon is an expert on using web and mobile platforms to create media rich applications and user experiences.
